Singapore Convention on Mediation

Singapore Convention on Mediation has been opened for signing. 

The United Nations Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation, also known as Singapore Convention on Mediation has been adopted by UN General Assembly, on 20 December 2018 and opened for signing on 7 August 2019. The Convention has been ratified by 46 states, including USA, Belarus, Georgia, India, Iran, China, Israel, Turkey and Ukraine. 

Main goal of convention is to facilitate the enforcement of settlement agreements reached through mediation. The Convention promotes simplified procedure for enforcement of settlement agreements. The Convention imposes requirements for settlement agreements (like, should be in writing, resulted from mediation etc.) The Convention does not apply to settlement agreements relating to consumer, family, inheritance or employment law.
